Slide & Turn benefits
What these doors do that bi-folds don't
Versatile Doors For All Seasons
Embrace the innovation that comes with New Wave Doors. Unlike conventional bi-folding doors that require full opening or closing, New Wave Doors provide a range of opening combinations, ensuring usability all year round. This versatility allows you to control your space exactly how you want, be it a slight opening for ventilation or a full opening to enjoy the outside view.
Easy Access Feature
The unique design of New Wave Doors incorporates a main traffic door, a standout feature that provides the functionality of a regular back door. This feature is especially convenient for quick access in and out of your premises without the need to fully open or close the door, providing practicality that's often missing in many bi-folding door systems.
Superior Thermal Efficiency
Aluminium New Wave Doors are engineered with a polyamide thermal break system, significantly reducing heat loss and condensation. This feature not only helps in maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature but also contributes to energy efficiency, setting a new benchmark in the thermal performance of sliding door systems.
Exceptional Security Design
Safety is never compromised with New Wave Doors. The panels of these doors fully interlock from top to bottom when closed, forming a strong barrier against potential intruders and adverse weather conditions. The robust design ensures peace of mind, knowing your home is well-protected with a door system that's been unbeaten in security since its inception in 2012.
Stunning Aesthetic Appeal
New Wave Doors exude elegance with a minimalist design and clean, unbroken sightlines. The absence of visible hinges or handles on the sliding panels and a sleek slim-line section design contribute to a sharp, modern aesthetic without sacrificing strength or structural integrity, seamlessly blending with any architectural style.
Reliability Through Simplicity
The innovative design of New Wave Doors eliminates the complexities associated with gearing and hinges found in bi-folding doors, offering a simple yet reliable operation. The door panels are supported on the bottom track, akin to traditional patio doors, ensuring a smooth operation, less stress on the door mechanisms, and a long-lasting door solution.
Frequently asked
Slide & turn questions, answered
What is a slide and turn door?
A slide-and-turn door system has independent panels that slide along a track like a patio door and then turn to stack neatly at the end of the run. Open one panel as an everyday traffic door, a few for ventilation, or slide every panel away for a completely clear opening – flexibility a conventional bifold or slider cannot match.
How are New Wave doors different from bifold doors?
Bifold panels are hinged together and fold as a connected set; New Wave panels are independent, sliding on a bottom track with no hinges or gearing between them. That means simpler, more reliable operation, no visible hinges or handles on the sliding panels, and the freedom to open exactly as much of the aperture as you want.
Do New Wave doors have a traffic door for everyday use?
Yes – the main traffic door works like a normal back door, so nipping in and out of the garden never means moving the other panels. It is one of the most-loved features of the system.
Are New Wave doors secure?
Very. When closed, the panels fully interlock from top to bottom, forming a continuous barrier – a design that has been unbeaten on security since its introduction in 2012 – combined with the inherent strength of aluminium frames and toughened glazing.
Are New Wave doors thermally efficient?
Yes – the aluminium profiles use a polyamide thermal break system that significantly reduces heat loss and condensation, meeting modern building regulations comfortably and keeping the room usable year-round.
How much do New Wave slide and turn doors cost?
Broadly in line with a quality aluminium bifold of the same width – the price depends on the number of panels, glass specification and finish. Send us your approximate opening size and a photo and we will usually give you a guide price before any site visit.
