Frequently asked
Window questions, answered
What styles of aluminium window do you offer?
Casement, bay, gable, French, picture (fixed frame) and bi-fold windows, all made to measure. Each is available in two aesthetics – the steel-look Soho style or the clean-lined Contemporary style – so there is a match for modern new builds and period homes alike.
What is the difference between the OW-70 and OW-80 windows?
The OW-70 is Origin's slimline system, prized for its narrow sightlines and available with sleek inline handles; the OW-80 is the premium system with a heavier-duty profile and offset handle design. We will recommend the right one for your openings at the design consultation.
Are aluminium windows energy efficient?
Yes – modern aluminium windows use polyamide thermal breaks that stop heat conducting through the frame, so they comfortably meet current building regulations and keep homes warm in winter and cooler in summer. The old reputation for cold frames belongs to systems from decades ago.
Do aluminium windows suit period properties?
Very well – the Soho steel-look style in particular. Slim frames and fine glazing bars echo original steel windows, which is why they are a favourite for character cottages and Victorian and Edwardian homes across Hertfordshire.
What guarantee do the windows come with?
Origin windows carry industry-leading guarantees of up to 20 years, manufactured in the UK at their Buckinghamshire facility. We install with our own fitters and handle aftercare locally.
Do you survey and install?
Yes – every project includes a free consultation and a detailed technical survey before manufacture, with installation by our own experienced team across Hertfordshire and North London.
Let’s transform your home.
Consultations are completely free, with no obligation to commit.
